DVD Review - Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit

Don't let the awesome poster design fool you... this is not a great movie!
So, Kevin Costner... again!

He seems to have found his way back to Hollywood, that's a good thing right? Well... not in this movie!

This movie has a great cast except... for Chris Pine! I'm sorry but he just cannot handle an action film on his own. Don't get me wrong, he's a great Captain Kirk and I really loved him on Star Trek but here? Not so much.

He's not physical enough. He's not rough enough. Basically... He's not man enough for this kind of movie. Even with Costner and Keira Knighley helping him he just couldn't carry the movie on his back. I rather have old Harrison Ford - from previous Jack Ryan movies - then him really.

The movie is the same old same old terrorist plot to take over the world routine and the hero, in the first thirty minutes, has no ideia what he's doing but then - halfway in the movie - takes a plane ride and becomes the next "double-0" awesome super spy, God know why?! It just doesn't make much sense as a thriller nor as action movie.

Anyway production value was clearly above average but, unfortunately, not enough to save this movie.

A very novice 2 out of 5.
