DVD Review - Ralph Breaks The Internet [Contains Spoilers]

If only the movie was really about the internet...
I was about not to do this review cause this movie was such a disappointment for me but I think it's kinda important I explain why, so here it goes.

Ralph, to me, was a cool game character in the great and vast gaming universe. He was the bridge between the old "retro" pixel games and the new and over the top games of the new generation. He was supposed to be the "farmer in the city", the simple man in the new technology but with a kind heart towards everyone. This film came and destroyed all that!

In this movie Ralph symbolizes everything that's wrong with the old mentality of people. Accustomed to the same things and the same life. Not wanting to change or open to anything new and interesting at all. Also his relationship with Vanellope is a bit awkward throughout the movie.

In Wreck-it Ralph (2012) we see them as two distant characters coming together as some sort of older brother/sister and here it becomes a bit like are they're father/daughter or just friends or some sort BFF's and then they introduce the "insecurity" issue out of nowhere! Vanellope decides she wants something cooler than just racing, and that's fine, but instead of just going to a Gran Turismo (Polyphony Digital, 1997) kinda championship game - nope - the directors decided that she should go to a Carmageddon (1997) kind of game, full of violence and explosions and then depict Ralph as "insecure" about it, as somehow not not being ok with this was about how "he" saw it?! I'm sorry but for a kids movie this made no sense.

If Vanellope was having a new friend and Ralph was just "jealous" that would be one thing but here he's just... Mad cause she wants to drive?! Fearful for her safety?! I didn't get it. Not only that, Ralph also turns into the main villain of the movie due to a "insecurity" virus, but of course he does. This kind of force feed "social justice" agenda into the story didn't make any sense to me.

The movie fails, cause the script tries to touch on too mature related issues for a movie about kids having fun and videogames.

A one out of five!
