Game Review - Destiny: Rise of Iron

In need of a new desktop screen?! Well you can have this one!
Hello fellow gamers,

Yes, it's been a while since I've done a game review but, since I've taken a break from movie reviewing for a while, I've dedicated some time to the awesome world of console gaming bringing you another review. So let's dive into to the sci-fi fantasy world of Destiny shall we?!

FYI: This is a PS4 review and I'm manly a solo casual player. I'll not dive too much into the mechanics of the game as I'm sure if you're reading this you are a fellow gamer yourself and know what a shooter is by now.

So, after the much debate and talk about the Taken King (last expansion of Destiny) is this new addition more or less?! Well... it's neither! Lemme explain.

On the last expansion - The Taken King - Bungie introduced all new mechanics to the game including rewards and exotic items that you could only achieve by being a top player or grinding the hell of the game. Being a solo player (as I find that most people on Destiny are) this was not a very helping thing. Now they've made some improvements on the stats in-game which make rare or exotic items more easy to obtain - some would call it "fan-service" I would call it equalizing the players. Also, making it to top level basically much simpler, and - on that note - thank you bungie for thinking of us solo guys!

On a down side I have to say that Rise of Iron didn't exactly open up a whole new world for Destiny players. The new Plaguelands is pretty much a recycled cosmodrome with snow effects and even the enemies lack a bit of new weapons or powers to really astonish us.

What I think they were trying to achieve with Rise of Iron was bringing back some more players, leveling them all up and trying to make the community bigger by introducing the clans in the game. Sadly I think they made just the opposite. Most players I think find Destiny an outdated, uninteresting, in serious need of revamp game. If on one side they kinda rewarded old players, I don't think they made the jump to something that would make the game be on the top shelf for new people.

I'm happy on how it is now but there's a lot of things lacking if you start comparing it with new upcoming shooters. I guess that's why they're talking about a Destiny 2 now!

A three out of five!
