The Division 1.8.3 - Survival: Tips For Noobs

If you know anything about me you know I'm not exactly a Survival fan, and by "not exactly a Survival fan" I mean I hate Survival. If you follow my Twitter, I occasionally rant about how much unlucky and salt I get out of that mode. That being said, I was still able to get one of the most difficult commendations in the game... The infamous Phoenix Shield!

So, instead of the full pro expert opinion by all those top YouTubers and Pros about the high-end weapons and gear, this time listen to the casual PvE Survival tips and maybe you'll get your Shield as well...

1. Stay clear from the main streets! Main streets are were most NPC's and other new players will roam, looking for resources or fire barrels to stay warm. Use the alley ways and inside buildings or rooftops to get to were you wanna go, that way you can still get warm and have lots of apartments and tops to scavenge for resources.

2. Craft a Pulse! There are only a few Skills you really need in Survival (Pulse, Turret and First Aid) but Pulse is an absolute must, especially if you play solo like me. After that you can either craft a Turret, providing an enforcing of damage and something else for NPC's to shoot beside you, or a First Aid, absolutely the most helpful if you want to continue killing and looting other NPC's or even other players.

Although the first two steps of the Shield are relatively easy, the last one will make you run for you money!

3. Ration your Meds and Food! This sounds like a no brainer but if you're not familiar with Survival you will either eat everything you come across or not eat anything until the last minute of health. Don't do this. The healthier you are the more resources you can spot and the better your survivability will be in a gun fight. So ration them and always keep a Medkit on stash, you may need it for a revive later on.

4. (If you can) Kill anything that moves! Although resources are scattered throughout the whole of Survival, the best way (or the easier) is to kill NPC's (or other players). Most times, they'll drop better weapons and gear for you to use. So, kill as many as you can but first be sure you can actually kill them, otherwise you'll have a short life in Survival.

5. Don't enter the Dark Zone before you're geared up properly! Resources in the DZ are scarce and farter apart than in the Light Zone so be careful not to enter with low gear just to get killed by the first purple NPC's that walks into you. Usually they're in groups of three or more so take that into account before you start shooting all over the place.

6. Hunter are Hell! Be patient! The worst thing you can do agains't a Hunter is try and rush to kill it. I know the adrenaline is pumping the chopper is coming and you wanna extract and leave Survival but take it easy. Stay away from him and follow his movements. If more than one spawn try and see were the other player is and try and act strategically with them. Most times all you need is a clear shot or an opportunity to take him out! A shock grenade is a great help cause it stops his movement or use a Sniper Rifle for that headshot while he is in cover but never, ever, get close to him. Not even if he's low on health. One axe hit and you'll throw away an hours work!

Lastly, not a tip but kinda of a suggestion, Play with a friend! Survival is hell on solo but every time I teamed up with another player we had twice the firepower, twice the skills and twice the heals so if you want to have fun and enjoy it more... A friend is all you need!

And that's it guys, I hope you take into account some of these tips if you wanna tackle Survival and hopefully, you'll get your Phoenix Shield as well.

Cheers!
