News - Rumor: Destiny 3 in Production

So according to an article on WCCFTECH, it seems Bungie has started development on Destiny 3.

According to the news, the new Destiny game will feature Europa, a new location but, most importantly it will also have a new PvPvE area. Although the leak referenced the Dark Zone in The Division (Ubisoft/Massive), it seems that Bungie is addressing the new mechanic a bit different than it's looter shooter counterpart.

Now, what does this mean for the players?

First of all, according to rumors, the date of release will only be 2020, still giving Destiny players lots to explore in the current Forsaken and possibly the new 2019 DLC (yet to be announced). For players outside of Destiny, we have to take into account that Anthem (EA/Bioware) and The Division 2 (Ubi/Massive) are just 6 months away from release, so it's nice to see that Bungie is also gearing up to counter the competition.

Most importantly, Sony claimed that it wouldn't touch the Playstation until 2020, the date of the supposed release of Destiny 3. So, will we have a new Destiny for a new Playstation 5 launch?!

This is all speculation but - to be honest - I hope Bungie response to the Destiny 2 failed launch will not be a "simple" PS5 exclusive launch. I sincerely hope they've learn from their mistakes and, if the rumor is true, they can bring a new Destiny to a new console with one hell of a game!

But, this is Bungie/Activision we're talking about so, I guess we'll still have to wait a year or so to be sure!
