Anime Review - Patema Inverted

The story about the (inverted) friendship of a boy and a girl. Which one is upright?!

Hello folks,

Every once in a while I like to go back to my main inspirations and check what's new on the anime market. This time I found a heart warming movie that was quite the find. Let me introduce... Patema Inverted.

The title pretty much says it all, it's about a girl - named Patema - who is indeed inverted... literally! Why is she inverted? How come the inverted gravity seems to only affect her and her mattes but not everyone else? What is this world they live in where the surface dwellers seem to be fine but they are forced to live in steam caves? All these questions are aroused in the first half of the movie but rest assure they all have answers.

This is a great magical, mysterious and wondrous film. A story about a boy and a girl inverted in space but not in heart and their belief and love that will eventually lead them on a great adventure about their world and - ultimately - their lives.

I strongly recommend this movie to all anime, Ghibli or Makoto Shinkai fans cause you will find much of their influences here. A well told story about how much a true friendship can overcome any obstacle.

A must well deserved four out of five!
