DVD Review - The Protector 2

As you can see by the poster... this movie is "that" good!
If you like action movies of course you've heard of the new martial art sensation from the far east by the name Tony Jaa. Not only must you heard of him, you must also know successes like Ong Bak or Tom Yum Goon - "The Protector". This is the second installment of the series where, in a small village in Thailand, a man is the protector of a sacred elephant that he must keep safe at all costs.

Unfortunately there are bad people in the world (and also in Thailand) that want to use the sacred elephant to kill some important people on some diplomatic summit. The specifics are not important as they are just an excuse for some of the most awesome Muay Thay fights ever seen on the silver screen. But is this that kind of movie? And action packed full out martial arts movie? Well... no!

The over use of green screen, cables and almost out of sink fight choreographies make this the worst Tony Jaa movie I've ever seen. A lot of promises on the trailer and on Tony but this is a very bad movie! However...

For the bad Thay movie it is, it is quite entertaining and if you don't mind the B budget acting, be over use of (bad) special effects or RZA appearing as the villain in the movie, I guess you could still have a good time.

A cautionary two out of five!
