DVD Review - Prometheus

The return of the Sci-Fi thrillers with Ridley Scott... with mixed reviews!
Hey guys!

Aren't I the lucky?! Just after seeing a great movie yesterday at the theaters, I found my way to a copy of one of the most controversial movies of 2012... Ridley Scott's Prometheus! And let me just tell you now I understand what all the controversy was about.

First and foremost I know everyone ties this movie to the Alien saga and my opinion is that this could, at some level, very well be that beginning. Even so the script is full of holes and implicit nuances, I guess with a little bit more digging into the story you can come up with some kind of conclusion about the real outcome the movie yourself.

The problem is that none of these conclusions are really explicit in the movie. Where do the Aliens come from? How do they evolve? Why are they here? Who and why did all the most ancient civilizations have the same mark in common? None of these questions are really given a straight forward answer in the movie. You see what appears to be the Alien beginning but this could very well be a re-boot or an entire different alien story altogether.

As a film it works on it's own but as part of a saga its very inconclusive and I believe that's what caught most of the fans of guard! As for me (because I already heard all the negative vibe about it) I was able to enjoy it as a sci-fi film on it's own and got the sense that this was a great movie.

In conclusion, I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand I liked the sci-fi aspect of the movie, the Alien flavor and the technology/archeology of it. On the other hand, the fact that the scrip has a lot of holes and inconsistencies to it, to be a real Alien experience, kind of set me off. Even so, for a good night of sci-fi thriller you can't go wrong with it.

An inconclusive three out of five!
