Anime Review - Bayonetta: Bloody Fate

If you're thinking that the movie is just like the poster... You are exactly right!
Have you ever played a game where a witch battles orders of demonic angels (yes that's right it's not a typo) trying to find her lost memories about her parents called Bayonetta? You haven't? Neither have I but I heard it was pretty awesome.

It was so awesome that they did an original video animation (that's OVA for you none locals) of it to get people more hyped about the franchise. And, for the most part, Bayonetta: Bloody Fate does that!

If you've played the game you're not gonna get anything new here. Same plot, script, characters, battles, bosses, even the story that you get in the game. But, instead of holding a PS3 control, this time you can relax on your couch and just the action unfold on your screen.

It's not bad, but it's not great either. The sets all seem a bit empty (no people, no background action with cars or anything really) and the character animation - even if they are very intrinsically detailed - isn't as fast or as badass as one would hope.

If you're an anime fan you'll see lots of cool poses and beautiful ladies but that's about it! The monsters all look the same and even when they don't their actions aren't more than a few. All in all... if you like the game you'll enjoy the movie otherwise I think there are better anime you can check out.

A reasonable 3 out of 5.
