DVD Review - Alien: Covenant

The rise of the Xenomorphs is upon us!

Oh man... This movie is quite something! Unfortunately none of it very good. 

Here's the thing. I like Ridley Scott! I like his cinematography, his storytelling, his framing and the overall visual sci-fi of the Aliens movie but this movie... this movie is just one mess after the other!

I mean we all know the Alien franchise needs a big boost and the movies play a big part on it! We all want to know how the creatures were made or fabricated. How they came to be or existed. How they become this weapon of mass murder for all other species they come across and how they became this menacing universal threat!

But what we end up is just a mix-mash of unrelated, unexplained events that lead to creating/fabricating them. Who are the Engineers?! Why were they colonizing and then wiping out humanity (if not other species)? Why would they leave signs to a arsenal that has no use anymore? Why are they a religious cult but with such an advanced technology? None of it is explain and when explain it doesn't make much sense.

This movie is just a serie of unfortunate events, most of then missing any purpose, that leads to more unsolved questions and that we have yet to figure how it all ties out to the original Sigourney Weaver trilogy!

I appreciate the still frames on this movie (really wonderful pieces) but the overall felling I had after this movie was just disappointment and confusion!
