DVD Review - Rise of the Guardians

Tired of the same old Christmas movies?... Well this might strike you fancy if you like action! Like I do!

Yeahhh Easter is coming!!! Oh wait a minute is gone already?! Damn... Oh well this movie still rocks!

What can I say? We've all had a mountain of trillion movies during Christmas right?! Santa, the sleigh, the reindeers, the elves, the christmas tree, the snowman... you name it, there's been a movie of it. That's why, in some sense, this movie kinda went a little bit off radar when it came out. I mean it has Santa again, snow again and the whole love and tender care that you need for the holy season... again!

The kick is that this is not a Christmas movie, it's a winter movie. With Easter getting a big piece of the pie!

So the story fast and short. Santa (Alec Baldwin), the Easter Bunny (Hugh Jackman), the Tooth Fairy (Isla Ficher) and the Sandman (the good one, not the dark comic Neil Gaiman kind) are all part of a superhero team called "The Guardians" that secure and protect all the children who "believe" all around the world. All of that comes to a big standstill when the Boogie Man AKA Pitch Black (Jude Law) comes and transforms the children dreams into nightmares and steals their memories. Enter Jack Frost (Chris Pine) to the rescue... a new member appointed by the Man on the Moon to save the children.

Sounds fun and awesome? Well that's cause it is!

I haven't seen such great animation action scenes since The Incredibles! The story is very good and it keeps giving you something new, or funny, or exciting every minute. It's a great fun joyride from the get go and it goes on through the whole film. It even has some eye watering moments - I cried really.

If you haven't seen it go get it! I hope Dreamworks has got more to come in the future cause it would be well worth it!

A most enjoyable 4 out of 5!
